How to attract students to your academy before September

To attract students to an academy, timing matters a lot. When families search, what they check on your website and how to turn a visit into an enrolment.

Classroom with desks, an image about how to attract students

For an academy, the year does not start in January. Families look for classes mainly in late August and September, and again before exams. That is why your ability to attract students depends on having the website ready before that search happens, not after.

  • Late summer: extra support, languages and preparation for the new school year.
  • January and February: after the first grades, worries arrive.
  • Spring: preparation for university entrance exams, public exams or language certificates.

If the website is out of date in those weeks, families go elsewhere. So review it in July: timetables, prices and places for the coming year.

What a family checks before calling

They usually compare two or three nearby academies. They look for practical details: which courses you offer, for which ages, at what times, how many students per group and how much it costs. In addition, they want to know who teaches and whether results back it up.

One page per course or level

"Extra classes" says little. By contrast, a page for sixth-form maths, another for B2 English and another for entrance exams answers what each family looks for. Each page should include ages, timetable, group size, price and how to sign up. I explain why in one page per service.

How to attract students with a level test

A level test or a free trial class is the simplest way to start. The family sees how you work, the student meets the teacher and you can recommend the right group. Then offer enrolment there and then, while the decision is fresh.

Results, without exaggerating

Pass rates or students who earned a certificate are convincing, but only if they are real. Reviews from families and former students also help a lot. If you are unsure how to use them, read testimonials on your website.

Pre-registration in two minutes

A short form with name, course and phone number is enough to begin. A visible WhatsApp button also answers quick questions. See contact forms that convert. Google, for its part, values clear and useful information, as its guide to helpful, reliable content explains.

There are more details in website for tutors and schools. If you also offer professional services, see how to win law firm clients. And if you know a garage looking for work, how to get more garage customers follows the same logic.

Former students attract students too

Families trust what other families say. So ask for feedback at the end of the year, while results are fresh. Also, a message to former students in September, with the new timetable, often brings siblings, cousins and friends. That way, each year starts with a head start.

Before the end of July, in time for the August and September search.

It works very well, especially if you offer enrolment right afterwards.

How much does a website for my academy cost?

At Nueva Página, from €349 + VAT where applicable as a one-off payment. A website with up to five pages costs €499.
